FAI World Gliding Record Attempts for speed and distance

Flying the ASH 25 high-performance sailplane, Steve Fossett and Terry Delore (NZ) will attempt to add to their extraordinarily successful tally of 10 absolute Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) records for glider speed and distance set since December 2002

FAI World Airship Speed Record Attempt
January 2006: Friedrichshafen, Germany
Flying the Zeppelin NT airship, Steve will target to improve his own existing speed record (set in 2 directions to eliminate the effect of tailwinds)
February 2006: USA / Round
The World / UK

FAI World Record Attempt – Distance Without Landing or Re-fuelling
Flying the single-engine Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer research jet in which he achieved the first solo, non-stop round the world flight early in 2005
(in 67 hours), Steve next targets the 40,000+ kms absolute distance record
Steve will take off from NASA’s Space Shuttle base in Florida, USA, flying round the world - and then some - before completing his mission in the UK

and setter of numerous World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) records since 1993, Brian Thompson is most recently the winning skipper on the $1 million Oryx Quest 2005 round the world race
Entering the Velux 5 Oceans.
In 2006 Brian will be a leading entrant in this, the original single-handed round the world race - starting in Bilbao, Spain in October 2006 with stop overs in Perth, W. Australia (December 2006) and Miami (February 2007), finishing again in Bilbao in March 2007
